Who we are?

Ta-Wopaneh Association UK was founded in May 2003 and is registered as a charity in the UK since August 2006. The organisation’s ethos is based on respect, strong family values, traditions and empowerment.

The name Ta-wopaneh (pronounced Ta-wo-pa-neh) means Togetherness. It comes from one of the native dialects of Sierra Leone (a country in West Africa off the Atlantic Ocean coast that was ravaged by a 10 year civil war in the 1990s and the EBOLA crisis in 2015).Sierra Leone is also one of the poorest countries in the world and there is a need for people to unite and support its development potential.
